Who can attend: Staffordshire residents aged 40-74 who don’t have diagnosed conditions such as stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, heart condition or high cholesterol
What happens at the check?
This check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease and stroke.
• The check will take about 20–30 minutes.
• You’ll be asked some simple questions. For example, about your family history and choices which may put your health at risk.
• We’ll record your height, weight, age, sex and ethnicity.
• We’ll check your blood pressure and cholesterol
Details:
An NHS Health Check is a free check-up delivered by health professionals to help lower the risk of developing health conditions. They are designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and dementia. Even if you feel perfectly well, as you get older, your chances of developing the health conditions above increase, therefore having an NHS Health Check can help you to spot signs of health conditions early and find ways to lower their risk, where we can support you to make the simple changes needed.
